In this 32-page book (8" x 8"), written and illustrated by Perry Smith, he and his family travel across North America to attend family and community gatherings. Drumming, singing, and dancing are all part of being at a Powwow. Join Perry's two boys as they share their treasured memories of attending Powwows with their family and learning to dance. This book includes three pages of educational material on Powwows, with information under the headings: What is a Powwow, Powwow Regalia, and Powwow Dances. *Written for levels Kindergarten through grade 3.

Perry Smith's Ledger Art: Ledger Art emerged in the mid-1800s to early 1900s when Plains First Nations created artwork during the establishment of reserves across North America. Artists obtained ledger books through trade, war, or raids and began using new art supplies, such as coloured pencils, crayons, and, sometimes, watercolours. They preferred these materials over traditional bone-and-stick brushes. Many artists used the ledger books to depict their traditional way of life before assimilation. Today, people greatly value these artworks for the historical perspective they provide.
